We are about to begin our 3rd month waiting to be matched with our child, so I thought I’d take some time to update you. Not much has happened since I last posted, but we are hearing some positive news from our adoption agency that things are pushing along. Our agency has signed with another orphanage (one more since the last time I posted), which means more children being matched with families. We still don’t know how long it will be until we get matched, but we are optimistic it will happen in the next year. One big change is that we will no longer be meeting our child at Toukoul, which is the original orphanage we had planned to travel to. I’ve done all kinds of research about Toukoul, so it feels strange knowing we won’t ever see it. We don’t know which orphanage our child is or will be living when we get matched, so we don’t know what part of Ethiopia we will be traveling to at this point.
There is not much else to fill you in on…we’ve been keeping super busy with summer festivities & our hectic work schedules. I’ve been taking on extra photo shoots trying to raise money for our adoption. I’m proud that we’ve been able to pay for everything up to this point (about $12,000-$4000 donated, so $8000 out of our own pocket). We still need to save about $15,000+ to complete our adoption. We have faith that God will provide.
Jake has been building our dining room table, which is exciting! I will post pictures when he’s done. My sister got married last month, so that was pretty much the highlight of the summer. Here are a couple pictures from their big day:
